Other than Illmoor, I like the Discworld series. The Bartimaeus trilogy isnt too bad either. I also like the Orcs trilogy and the Horatio Lyle series by Catherine Webb. I hated the Inheritance books. I've noticed a strange similarity to Star Wars in Eragon, if you compare Eragon to Luke Skywalker, Brom to Obi-Wan, Oromis to Yoda and so on. My absolute fave, though, is Sign of the Qin by L.G. Bass.

Star wars is probably the most different thing to the inheritance trilogy. But i admit Eragon's characters all the same role you'd expect in a fantasy/adventure book.

How can you not like inheritance? oh well. I have heard many of my friends drawing parallels between inheritance and lord of the rings. It can be compared to quite a few things really. That's the good thing bout Illmoor. It's truly unique.

eragon and the bartimaeus books are much better than harry potter. i havnt read red dwarf or discworld, what are they about? What is Discworld? WHAT IS DISCWORLD! Sorry for shouting but I think it would be safe to say that if you like Illmoor you will love Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Oh, I'm a new member if you couldn't tell. Don't hate me.... yet...

I like you. You remind me of me. Though that must be quite worrying for you.

to answer the question of this topic anyway...
I would not be able to name my favorite book because it keeps changing but I can highly recommend The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant By Stephen Donaldson to anyone who has the patience to slog their way through them.

I've got so much homework...THank the celestial being of your choice for forums!
I could rant about how Eragon is LoTr meets Star wars but I think I'm just bitter that I probably won't have book published when I'm eighteen. Even though his parents published it you've gotta hand it to him! I mean, look at how popular it is! It's a movie for god sakes.
Bartimaeeaous (whatever) Trilogy - the best thing about it was the footnotes. I despise Nathenial.
